Faculty Spotlight

Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Real for being named the Douglas A. Boyd Endowed Chair in Communication.  This honor is given to a member of the faculty of the Department of Communication who has made outstanding contributions to social scientific research and graduate education in the field of Communication.
Congratulations to Dr. Jeannette Sutton for receiving the 2016 College of Communication and Information Faculty Excellence in Research Award.  This award recognizes faculty achievement in research that is important to both the college and the faculty member’s area of expertise.  Dr. Sutton's research examines effective messaging under conditions of imminent threat using online social networking sites. Recently she has been examining the effects of including a URL of weblink on risk information seeking and processing and the effects of attaching visual data to short messages on message retransmission.
Implicit Bias in Mass Media and Society
On March 22, 2016 the Department of Communication held a panel session "Implicit Bias in Mass Media and Society".  Panel hosts were Nigel Taylor, a senior communication major and moderated by Dr. Anthony Limperos from the Department of Communication.  Panelists included Dr. Muhammad Ahmadi (Sullivan University), Fernando Alfonso (University of Kentucky), Dr. Elisia Cohen (University of Kentucky), David Luke (University of Kentucky), Lance Poston (University of Kentucky) and Malcolm Ratchford (Community Action Council).

Help our outstanding students continue to achieve by giving to our Communication Scholarship Fund Communication Fund for Excellence.

Click here to see Corbin Bailey, a Senior Communication major in the University Scholars Program, from Union, KY., express how vital this support is to our students and their success.

Any gift will be appreciated, no gift is too small, and all gifts are tax-deductible.

Thank you!
