Qualifications
A team member typically brings to the group a combination of experience and aptitude in at least one of the following areas:

  • Desktop hardware/software support (WIN / Mac)
  • Server administration (WIN / MAC / *NIX)
  • Database development – experience with any of the following: mySQL, postgreSQL, MS SQL SVR, MS Access, FileMaker Pro
  • Basic application programming – experience with some of the following: C++, Javascript, PHP, Visual Studio/.NET Framework, iOS.
  • Web site management – experience with CSS, and content management systems like Drupal or Jumla
  • Audio/video production – experience with digital media editing software (Final Cut, Adobe Premier, ProTools, Digital Performer, Audacity)
  • Graphic design – experience with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent design tools.

Further, so that we can have a well-rounded staff, each individual is encouraged to pursue an interest in at least one other skill area.

Note: Skills and experience are very important, but interest, eagerness to learn, quality of character, and sense of humor are equally valued. Simply put, we work hard and laugh a lot. Big egos and know-it-alls need not apply.

Who We Are
COM-RIT provides technical development and support for Communication faculty research projects, most of which are related to media studies, risk & crisis communication, and health communication. Our office also supports instructional technology in 5 tech-enhanced classrooms and participates in administering course assessments and managing data. Team members may also be asked to assist faculty with their workstations or presentation needs.

Hours and Workload: Our office is active Monday-Friday 9:00-6:00. Within that time-frame, we ask for a minimum schedule of 15 hours up to a max of 25, hours depending on individual needs, abilities, and the size of the team. Schedule flexibility is offered during exam times in exchange for availability when the department has special needs. Please be advised that this is not a work-study position.

Rate of Pay: Starting hourly wage is $11.00/hour.
