Overview
2006 Kentucky Conference on Health Communication:
Emerging Trends in Health Communication
In recent years, the field of health communication has been attracting
increased attention given the growing recognition of the role that communication
plays in enhancing health promotion and disease prevention. Now more than
ever, it is critical that we become aware of and help to disseminate the
cutting-edge communication research being done to advance theory and practice
across the major areas of research, including patient-provider communication,
mass media and public communication campaigns, and information technology,
as well as methodological advances in social science research. Under these
broad rubrics, research that focuses on emerging trends is particularly
important.
