The Department of Communication in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in appointment with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2022. [Apply here.]

Duties include a 4/4 teaching load at the lower-division level, including at least one large-lecture course (150-300 students, with teaching assistant support). We seek a candidate with teaching experience in organizational communication.  We welcome candidates with interests in workplace diversity, group communication, and/or sport communication.

The contract term for this position begins January 1, 2022. Because this position is anticipated to start mid-year, initial contract would be for three academic terms, and thus would end May 15, 2023 (with a summer break of May 16-Aug. 15, 2022). Initial contracts for lecturers may be renewed for additional one-year terms based on departmental needs, funding ability, and candidate performance. A Master’s degree in Communication is required as is the college-level teaching experience in the areas noted above.

The College of Communication and Information is composed of two schools (The School of Journalism and Media, School of Information Science), two departments (Department of Communication, Department of Integrated Strategic Communication) and an interdisciplinary graduate program. Nearly 1,700 undergraduate majors and 350 graduate students are led by more than 80 full-time faculty, who also teach in the university’s core curriculum and serve students perusing minors and certificates in the College. The College also houses UK’s independent student newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel, and the defending national championship Intercollegiate Debate Team.
