Top Students: This year's Outstanding Junior and Senior Awards

Sarah Jones - Outstanding Senior Outstanding Senior Scholarship Award: Sarah Elizabeth Jones

Sarah Elizabeth Jones, a native of Fisherville, Kentucky, graduated with a major in Communication and a minor in Psychology. She was recently elected President of the Student Activities Board (SAB) for the 2012-2013 academic school year after serving as Director of Engaging Issues for SAB the previous year. Among her many accomplishments, Sarah’s research project, “Parental Influence on Young Adults’ Vocational Choices” was accepted for presentation at the Theodore H. Clevenger, Jr., Undergraduate Honors Conference and the Southern States Communication Association (SSCA) annual conference. The paper is eligible for a top award, included in a panel of presentations entitled, “Top Rated Essays on Gender, Popular Culture, and Careers.”

Most recently, Sarah was accepted to UK’s University Scholars Program and granted admission to the Communication Graduate Program to complete a Master’s degree in Communication with a concentration in Interpersonal Communication. Her expected graduation date for the Master’s degree is December 2013.  The Communication Department is proud to call Sarah a Wildcat and pleased to have her continue on in the graduate program.

Outstanding Junior Scholarship Award: Catherine Rembrandt

Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, Catherine Rembrandt is a junior majoring in Communication with a minor in Business Administration.  She is an active member of the Communication Honors Society and has been on the Dean’s List for the past two semesters.  Upon receiving her bachelor’s degree in 2013, Catherine plans on attending graduate school to obtain an MBA.  She would like to thank her scholarship donors as well as all of her professors and advisors in the Department of Communication who have given her the confidence, inspiration, and advice to help guide her career path.  We look forward to watching Catherine excel to even greater heights as she enters her senior year. Way to go, Catherine!
