 Cyndy Miller of the Department of Communication recently received the 2011 Provost’s Outstanding Teaching Award, which recognizes special dedication and outstanding performance in the classroom or laboratory. |

 Dr. Alan DeSantis was awarded the College of Communications and Information Studies Excellence in Teaching Award in 1996, the Alumni Association Great Teacher Award in 1997, the Interfraternity Council Great Teacher award in 1997, and has been voted by the student body as UK's "favorite professor" seven times in the past nine years. |

Hammad Khan (right), a Communication senior, received one of two Carol S. Adelstein Outstanding Student Awards in 2009. The award, named after the wife of former UK professor Michael Adelstein, is given annually to students with disabilities who excel in academics and in serving the campus community.
Drew Trimble, a senior majoring in Communication and Political Science, was selected as the student speaker at UK's 2009 Commencement Ceremony.
In 2008, Senior Collin Cowgill was named the "Scholar Athlete of the Year." This is one of the highest honors the University of Kentucky Athletic Association awards to a student athlete.
Each year, the Department of Communication recognizes an outstanding junior and outstanding senior. The award is based purely on academic performance. Here is the list of past recipients:
