You've reached the personal website of J. David Johnson (Ph.D, Michigan State University, 1978), who has been the Dean of the College of Communications and Information Studies at the University of Kentucky since August of 1998.  He has also held academic positions at the University of Wisconsin‑Milwaukee, Arizona State University, the State University of New York at Buffalo, and Michigan State University and was a media research analyst for the U. He has published four books: Cancer-related information seeking (Hampton Press), Information seeking:  An organizational dilemma (Quorum Books)Organizational communication structure (Ablex), and Innovation and Knowledge Management:  The Cancer Information Service Research Consortium. He has been recognized as among the one-hundred most prolific publishers of refereed journal articles in the history of the communication discipline. He has served on three editorial boards and has been a consulting editor for a score of professional journals.  He has also received grants from the National Cancer Institute, Michigan Department of Public Health, Michigan Department of Transportation, and National Association of Broadcasters. He has worked extensively in an advisory capacity for various state and federal agencies in the field of health and, while an internship director, developed working relationships with scores of organizations.  His current teaching interests relate to knowledge networks and innovation in clinical and translational science.
